About these terms

By using the site, you agree to follow these terms. If you submit artwork, you must also read and accept the Artist Terms. Patreon and any game platform have separate terms for their own services.

Using the site

You must use the site lawfully and provide accurate information. You must not interfere with its operation or security, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious material, impersonate someone else, scrape private areas, evade submission limits, or use automation that places an unreasonable load on the service.

You are responsible for activity through your Patreon account and should sign out on shared devices. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has gained unauthorised access.

Patreon access and allowances

Patreon provides sign-in, membership and payment services. MaskedWaffle uses the active tier Patreon reports to provide the formats and submission allowances shown in the portal. Unused allowances do not carry into a later cycle unless we expressly say otherwise.

Patreon handles subscription billing and cancellation under the information and terms shown at checkout. Cancelling or changing a tier can change future portal access, but does not withdraw a licence already granted for submitted artwork. Contact us about a MaskedWaffle benefit that was not provided as described. Nothing in these terms limits any refund, cancellation or other statutory right you may have.

Submissions and moderation

A tier provides access to submission tools, not a commission or a guarantee of acceptance, release, promotion, player attention or paid work. We may review, decline, remove or ask for changes to submissions for quality, legal, rights, safety, platform or project-fit reasons. Where practical, the portal will show a reason when artwork is declined.

We may suspend portal access where reasonably necessary to investigate misuse, protect the service or other people, or comply with law. We will act proportionately and explain the reason where we reasonably can.

Our content

The MaskedWaffle name, logos, website design, software and game material supplied by us are protected by intellectual property law. You may use the public website for personal reference, but may not copy or commercially exploit our content without permission. Artist artwork remains owned by its creator or other rights holder and is governed by the applicable licence.

Availability and changes

We may maintain, improve, replace or discontinue site features. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access, but this does not remove obligations we have for a paid service. Material changes to tier benefits will apply prospectively and be shown before a new purchase or renewal where required.

External services

Links to Patreon, Steam and social platforms take you to services we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content, security or availability, although we remain responsible for our own conduct and obligations.

Responsibility

We are responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss caused by your breach, events outside our reasonable control, or third-party services we do not operate. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for legal, security or service changes. The updated date will be shown above, and material changes will be brought to affected users' attention where reasonably practical. A change does not rewrite the licence governing an earlier artwork submission unless you agree to it or the change is required by law.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections and right to bring a claim available under the law where you live. Contact support@maskedwaffle.com about the service or complaints@maskedwaffle.com to make a complaint.
